macOS desktop beta client closes instantly after adding a second user

Hey there,

if I try, to add a second user to the opencloud desktop beta client on macOS, the app closes instantly and a macOS crash report window appears.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the OpenCloud desktop beta via the system bar in top of the screen
2. Click "Konto hinzufügen" (maybe "add account/profile" or similar in english)
3. Type in the server address
4. Click on "In Browser öffnen" (open in browser)
5. Click on the profile that is signed in
6. Accept the permissions and click on "Einverstanden" (agree)
7. I get the message "Anmeldung erfolgreich" (sign in successful) in the browser tab

expected behavior
the second account should appear in the OpenCloud beta client

actual behavior
the app closes instantly and i get an error report window from macOS and no additional user is signed in

• macOS-Version: 15.7.1 (Sequoia)
• Mac-Modell: MacBook Pro 13" 2016

Hey there,
sorry for delay, i was on vacation!

Here is the log with the error. At 22:47 is the last version of the beta, which was installed, as i reported the error 2 weeks ago. 23:02 is the error with rc.1 The client still crashes even with rc.1.

So we are trying to find a proper folder to sync the spaces to.
By default, we use $HOME/OpenCloud if that's taken $HOME/OpenCloud (1) and then we count up until 100.
In your case, we didn't find any folder matching.
And that in an unexpected way, could you tell me something about the folder you selected as a sync root?

Sure. The sync root is my user folder on macOS. Because i want to source out my personal data to OpenCloud instead of iCloud in future. The exact path is /Users/staudi/ and in there are the folders Persönlich (Personal, i guess) and Freigaben (Shares). So i haven't the folder OpenCloud, which can be counted up.

Oh so for the first account you selected /Users/staudi/ and for the second you try to use /Users/staudi/Account B?

No, i'm not able to select another one.

In the first step, i enter the server address. In the second step i click "open browser". in the third step i click on the user in the browser and submit, and that's the moment, where the client crashes. So, it's the step before i'm able to select another sync paths.

Oh, that's because we try to find a possible sync location before asking the user. Thx for the feedback.

Selecting the home folder as a sync root is not actually supported, that's why the issue wasn't discovered before.
However, we should handle that case by preventing the user from selecting the home directory.

I'd recommend that you remove the account you have currently added to the client, and then re-add the account.
Before you remove the account, please ensure that all Spaces are in sync.
We don't remove synchronized files, so after the account was removed, you will still have a "Personal" folder etc in your home directory.
Those won't be synchronized any more and can be removed.
