ImageFont.getsize() not giving correct value

After updating to my python version to 2.7.6, i started getting this error. ImageFont.getsize() function returns wrong value for the height in (w,h) tuple whereas the value of width is still correct.
Its working fine for same set of inputs with my earlier version of python on another PC.

I can (sort of) reproduce this with Python 2.7.6, Pillow 2.4.0 and this code:

from PIL import ImageDraw
from PIL import ImageFont

font_path = "Tests/fonts/FreeMono.ttf"
font_size=20

ttf = ImageFont.truetype(font_path, font_size)

txt = "Hello World!"
w, h = ttf.getsize(txt)
print(w, h)

img = Image.new("RGB", (256, 64), "white")
d = ImageDraw.Draw(img)
d.text((10, 10), txt, font=ttf, fill='black')

img.show()
img.save('font.png')

It prints out (144, 13) but creates this image where the text is 138 x 13.

In my case, height is correct but width is wrong.

Same script when i ran on two systems.
One with python 2.7.5: (570, 134)
Other with python 2.7.6: (570, 76)

Both systems have PIL version 1.1.7 .
In my case, only height is varying, width is staying the same due to which some part of the text doesn't appear in the font.png image.
