Task: Recreate and Refine the PyQASM Logo (Editable Source + Light/Dark Variants)
Description
The current PyQASM logo was generated using an AI tool and exists only as flattened SVG/PNG assets. While it works visually, it is not perfectly contoured or smoothly editable, and we do not have access to the original design source files.
We are looking for a designer to recreate the PyQASM logo from scratch using a vector design tool of their choice (e.g. Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, etc.), producing a clean, editable, and maintainable version that closely matches the existing logo while improving smoothness, consistency, and visual balance.
A reference PNG and SVG of the current logo is attached (bottom).
Goals
- Recreate the PyQASM logo as a clean, fully editable vector design
- Preserve the overall look and identity of the existing logo
- Improve edges, contours, spacing, and any visual gaps where appropriate
- Ensure the logo works well across light and dark backgrounds
Deliverables
- Editable source file(s) (Figma template provided below, or you can use any other tool of your choice)
- Logo-only assets
- Logo + wordmark version
- “PyQASM” text to the right of the logo
- Use your best judgment for typography and spacing
- Color variants
- Light version (works on light backgrounds)
- Dark version (e.g. lighter or white border that pops on dark backgrounds)
Creative Freedom
- The recreated logo should be clearly recognizable as the PyQASM logo
- Minor refinements or improvements are welcome
- If you have ideas for optional alternative or enhanced versions, feel free to include them
Figma Template
Here is a view-only Figma link that you can create a copy of in order to get started:
https://www.figma.com/design/tEwsFsYZBqwCFCopLMchV0/Pyqasm?node-id=0-1&p=f&t=spxGWgd5p8J9Nw5B-0
Following the link above, on the left is the original AI generated image, and on the right is a version created using Figma that still has many imperfections and inconsistencies, but could at least provide a good starting place.
Below are copies of the original AI generated logo. As you zoom in, you will see the imperfections, rough edges, lines that that have colors chipped, blurred or that are not completely or cleanly filled, inconsistent line widths, lines offset or don't follow perfect circles or aren't perfectly straight, rounded corners that are inconsistent and not perfectly smooth, etc. These details are what we would like cleaned up in the newly created version so that the result is crisp, polished, and cohesive.
