OAuth issue? --- Error 401: deleted_client

Context: WSL2_Debian12 / Win11_23H2 (up to date) / account with 2FA and App Permissions

After following the installation instructions, because I don't have a web browser on my linux I choose the no browser switch via:

notmuch-gmail -n

It proceeds to generate an URL and expects a code.

When I copy/paste that URL to a browser (any browser - FF, DDG, Edge... I refuse Chrome), then I receive the following error:

Sign in with Google
Access blocked: authorisation error
The OAuth client was deleted.
If you are a developer of this app, see error details.
Error 401: deleted_client

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

OK, I fixed the problem manually.

I cannot automate it because my python coding skills don't allow it, however for future users seeking to overcome this issue, please see my fork of the 'gapi.py' ← search for Client ID = → here

Ran into this myself today. Google has banned OOB (out of band) oauth.

I had to create a new google project, enable the gmail api, create an oath client, and add a "Authorized redirect URI" -- which I set to a http://webhook.site auto generated site. Then I modified gapi.py so that the redirect_url in the "no browser" path was the webhook site. Then I ran notmuch-gmail, clicked the link in my browser, then went to my new webhook.site and copied the code, pasted into the waiting terminal. THEN it ran!

I saw that the project spins up a small http server -- it might be easier if it could temporarily be routed through ngrok or something, and there were directions to set it as an authorized redirect url.

I haven't test your solution because for me at least it is still working. Given that I haven't actually "finalized and published" the API on Google Cloud, I routinelly (every 7 days or so) have to reauthorize the API. It's not that big of a hassle. I will write again if I find that this method no longer works. Thanks for your email BTW.
