Unable to type the character â over an SSH session

Description

Locally, I'm able to type the â character in an IRB console without problems. However, when running IRB remotely on an SSH connexion, I'm unable to type the character.

Going over the irb_info, I see that the reline and the IRB versions are different. Could it be related? I'm not sure how / when reline and IRB is updated in relation to the installed ruby version.

Could you type â in remote shell, for example, bash?

Also, please tell me how to type ^a to display â.
Is there a shortcut or an OS setting?

It seems to be working correctly in Bash:

In Mac OS (I'm sure there is an equivalent on other OS'es):

• Change the keyboard layout to Canadian French - CSA
• Using the keyboard viewer, press ^

Perhaps this default setting in Reline has caused it to be assigned to a different key binding.
I think this is a problem with Reline. I will transfer this issue.
