I guess this should fix that problem. We can ignore the failing Miri test. Bump version and changelog? And BTW it doesn't close #738, it just works around the issue. All the same, hopefully it will satisfy people for now. |

It's a temporary fix to solve compilation issues reported by users, more fundamental rework will be handled in #771.
