Since we couldn't figure out why under some circumstances the window list cannot be retrieved, we should at least get rid of the crash.
If people are disturbed by the absence of the window list, they will find an error message in command line output which points them to the issue report dealing with this issue.
The problem appears if the window manager doesn't support EWMH (for example, DWM only supports it with some optional patches) or, for some reason, in KDE.
