Hello,
Not really an issue....

I've been using the latest beta of Sift V2 ever since the inception of HRFI from MTGI1 over Eumetcast. The software is in one word... brilliant! The ease at which one can manipulate the brightness, gamma and mix the VIS with the IR is amazing.

However, I have been trying for some time to activate the autoupdate feature rather than manually selecting the files.

I have been attempting to follow all instructions as laid out in GitHub documentation on activating autoupdate feature, even utilising the actual example provided for MTG FDHSI (which I also receive via Eumetcast). However, each time I try, the SIFT program terminates. However many times I attempt it I just can't seem to get the auto function to run.

I must admit and hold my hands up to the fact I have very limited to no knowledge of computer programming or using satpy/pytroll and therefore fully admit I'm somehow at fault and lack the required knowledge.

I'm very sorry for asking however could someone provide an idiots guide....and I really mean an idiots step by step guide to running the autoupdate feature of SIFT? This would be very greatly appreciated as the program itself is superb for viewing MTG imagery especially the high Res HRFI.

Hi @Markpartridge , sorry for the late reply, I was off last week. I assume that you were checking out this docs page https://sift.readthedocs.io/en/latest/configuration/catalogue-auto_update_mode.html# - apart from that we don't have more at the moment unfortunately.

When you say SIFT "terminates", could you give us some more details? Does it show an error in the console when running it?

No problem...thanks for your reply.

That is correct...I used the exact example from the docs page you provided a link for.

I have modified the search_path with the location of the MTG FDHSI that I'm receiving via Eumetcast (HVS-3). I run a two laptop system...one laptop for receiving the MTG files and the other for processing. The receiving laptop is named 'MP1' which you will notice in the modified catalogue.yaml file I've attached.
I have also modified the auto_update.yaml file from False to True.

I save both files then run the SIFT.bat as usual. The program loads for a time before terminating instantly. However, I believe the very last message is a SigusR1.

I have added both files for you to inspect. Can you see anything wrong? Is there any other file I need to modify? I really would like to get the program to run automatically as I really enjoy using SIFT for HRFI currently available over Eumetcast- Europe (HVS-3).

Thanks for the info - I will try to do some tests myself in the next days (as I haven't tried this mode in the latest versions), and let you know if I find some issue on SIFT side, or if we should investigate more on your side!

Hello Andrea, Just wondering if you've had a chance to look into the automation of SIFT? Is there anything I should modify further to what's described in the online guide?
