Accessing history

As bufsurf binds the history to windows it would be really nice if the history would be accessible in location lists. This could be done optionally so that users who actually use location lists would still be able to use this plugin. I imagine something like the FF back button. When you press it a little longer a list shows up from which you can select a site.

I think the only difficulty would be to figure out which entry the user selected -> where in history you are now.

Interesting, I'll give this some thought. Right now I use bufsurf in combination with bufexplorer. bufexplorer orders buffers using a most recently used ordering. Maybe bufexplorer offers the option to order buffers according to the navigation history. Otherwise, bufexplorer functionality can be minimally duplicated and instead we use a buffer ordering according to navigation history. Selecting a specific entry in the navigation history should be implemented in the same way as e.g. Firefox handles this. For example, directly selecting a buffer that is three entries back in the navigation history should be equivalent to executing :BufSurfBack three times.

Regarding the behavior of the Firefox history - at least Chromium behaves differently. When I open an URL I've opened before in the same window a new entry in the browser history is created.

I think I'd be highly confused when I'm switching between buffers and suddenly being in the middle of the history instead of being at the very top.

In my case, Google Chrome seems to discard all URL entries that come after the URL that is directly selected from the history (v11.0.696.71). This is a can be made configurable as I think it is just a matter of preference.
