As discussed with @jorgeorpinel to address the redirect problem in #1823 and #1705.

If this redirect is applied soon, the existing index ranking for the old URL should be transferred to the new one, even though the change was made some time ago. This is the existing index listing for the old URL.

When this PR is merged, I'll reindex the old URL on Search Console.

Merged @jeremydesroches please reindex and let's remember to check back in a few days to see whether the rank and traffic improved again 🙂 Thanks

@jorgeorpinel following-up on this, looks like the new page has replaced the old one in the index and traffic/search improved again. Check these analytics and search console reports for comparison.

Yeah it looks like it's coming back slowly although still around 60% of what it used to be

Any way to setup a goal or something on GA to get alerted about the progress of this page in future weeks? Mostly curious, I think we did all we can in this case for now.

Good question @jorgeorpinel... a goal is not suitable because those are meant to be persistent. We can try out a custom alert on this. I set it to alert us when the weekly pageviews are less than 100 (based on traffic to previous URL). It's a bit rough because it only works from total traffic, but worth a try.

Cool let's try that for now, thanks.

Final check on this as requested for GSoD, @jorgeorpinel:

Update Tracked Files - Link - Roughly equivalent traffic to previous levels, across all metrics. So the redirect problem was addressed by the fix, as expected. 👍

Sidenote: I've removed the analytics alert previously created to track this.
