I was just thinking: maybe one should gather the improvements ideas, feature requests, bugs etc. in here, so that it's easier to contribute and understand the direction of the project.

Yes, I encouraged users to do that if they find issues or have improvement ideas. This was the best mechanism to make it available for community collaboration projects. I believe project is useful as it is.
