This seems like a reasonable start at a rewrite. Overall I think the Incident Resolution Procedures needs to read more like a sequential or tiered list of steps of increasing severity, and should be specific about what those steps/tiers are.

<p>All situations are different and W3C participants are encouraged to use whichever method of incident resolution they feel comfortable with.</p>

<p>Participants are encouraged to try and resolve issues themselves in the first instance. However, if participants do not feel comfortable or safe doing so, they can get help through an ombudsperson, facilitators and/or mediation.</p>

As noted in #359 , we need to clarify who should maintain confidentiality, because not everyone needs to maintain confidentiality. For example, witnesses and those involved should not be expected to maintain confidentiality unless they have separately agreed to do so.

True, although I do think we might add some language to encourage folks to respect the sensitivity of the situation and seek to maintain confidence towards a productive resolution. For example, a perpetrator might enlist supporters to harass a reporter. How might we discourage that behavior?

<p>A disciplinary investigation can be started where one of the following apply:</p>
<ul><li>it’s not appropriate to begin with mediation </li>
<li> all other mediation or resolution attempts have not worked</li>
</ul>

The above 6 paragraphs are repetitions of what the Introduction already says, and should be deleted to avoid the unnecessary repetition.

This paragraph, describing what to do if mediation fails or does not work, should be moved later, after the mediation step has been described.

<ul><li>get help and support to safely resolve issues that negatively affect them</li>
<li>correct their behaviors that negatively affect other participants in W3C</li>
<li>continue to safely work and contribute to the W3C after an issue has been raised</li>
</ul>

The goal was already stated in the Introduction. It does not need to be repeated here. Better to cut the above paragraph.

<li>Incident is addressed directly with the parties involved, if appropriate.</li>
<li>Incident is reported.
<ul>
<li>Reporting can take on many forms including reporting the issue to a chair, ombudsperson, through an anonymous report, or a member of the team.</li>

I think we should actively encourage people to report incidents, and explain why it is important to do so, even if they think they can resolve them without help. Reason: It enables patterns and repeat offenders to be identified.

I think this section (Role of the Ombuds) should be before the Incident Resolution Procedures, and the Procedures should be a sequential or tiered list of steps of increasing severity.

What is this review for exactly and what two parties

The purpose of this review is to improve the document. I don't know what "two parties" you are referencing, so I don't know how to answer the second part of your question.

feel as though privacy acts werent implicated resulting in theft of web 3 software and development. It isn't appreciate to use spyware to invade people's principles and privacy. AI technology is continually evolving and as a person who has only the best interest of people online at heart. I currently couldn't feel more invaded and robbed of what work I have put in and applied myself to learn. I mean I can't access certain accounts now which are my resources to survival . Noted King Kong online gaming, click funnels, and ect. I am an entrepreneur and a high achiver that pose as no possible threat so I deserve better than what has been applied to me as a person. Reconsider ur facts before passing judgement . Also I hold copy writes and legal licenses for certain things I have had my hands in working on. That can be provided at any time.

Should the h1 be changed?

<p>Participants are encouraged to try and resolve issues themselves in the first instance. However, if participants do not feel comfortable or safe doing so, they can get help through an ombudsperson, facilitators and/or mediation.</p>

<p>Depending on the severity of the situation, it may not be appropriate to attempt to resolve the issue informally or in the context of the group. Participants should immediately report an incident whenever they feel unsafe or threatened by the behaviour or actions of other W3C participants.</p>

Consider if "Participants should immediately report…" is okay. For some, they may not be able to report immediately for any number of reasons, particularly those with some trauma-based considerations.

How about "report an incident as soon as possible" instead of "immediately report an incident"?

The document title and filename still need to be updated to reflect the content. This document is about addressing negative incidents. I suggest "Incident Resolution Procedures".

I suggest s/Correct/Change/, because "Correct" sounds condescending -- like disciplining a child.

How does "formal complaint" differ from the complaint that the participant presumably already raised, and why would it differ? To my mind, this step represents a decision, by the participant, that prior steps to resolve were insufficient and a formal investigation is requested. I.e., it is an escalation of the resolution attempt. If any documentation is incomplete -- such as additional evidence -- then it must be completed before the investigation is launched.
