[Feature Request] Waypoint displaying or mod compat

I'm loving the way the UI compass works; it's very useful when you need to get back home.
So why not use it for waypoints as well? They could be built into the mod or made compatible with something like Waystones.
That's all. Thanks for such a simple yet amazing mod — I haven't found anything similar to it.

Here is a question I asked in another request. I would appreciate your feedback.

What do you think about having craftable colored compasses that can be used to set waypoints? The compass's purpose would be to set the waypoint; additionally, it would point to the set point if held in the inventory. I really want to avoid a GUI option, since it is a royal pain to update between Minecraft versions. Since red, green and offwhite are already used, we could add other colors for markers and compass colors. Five waypoint markers total?

Waystones compatibility is an option as well; however, it needs to have a configurable range.

Honestly, we had a UI for this and a massive number of other features, but nobody ever used them. If we add these features back, we aim for a more immersive experience.
