Editing contributors modifies the DOM outside of the modal

I'm using the ROR plugin version 1.0.0.8, installed via the Plugin Gallery into my stable-3_3_0 installation (circa 3.3.0-7).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Log in as an Editor
2. Go to a submission's Publication tab, and within that, the Contributors tab:
   
3. Edit one of the contributors.
4. In my case there is an existing affiliation (Stanford). I enter "Simon Fraser" as a new ROR search, and click the resulting match.
5. The new match does not appear to be added as a ROR to the affiliations list, and I see a DOM modification outside of the contributor box:
   

To be clear, I think there might be two problems here:

1. The "Simon Fraser University" added on the bottom left of the screenshot, and
2. The second affiliation does not appear to be added to the list.

These two problems seem like they might be interconnected, i.e. an incorrect selector.
