The issue here is that when using :scale, you need to enclose a Scale array inside another array. Otherwise, the "scale array" would be coerced into a pattern, and the events yielded by that pattern would be each individual degree instead of the whole array.

For example, this does not work

fm.set scale: Scale.major.p

You need to do this instead, which is IMO counter-intuitive:

fm.set scale: [Scale.major].p

I think the easiest way to fix this is to define a proper Scale class, so that we can define a #p method inside that yields the whole scale array.
