Feature request: A way to dynamically change the gain of an SDR device

There's currently no way to dynamically change the gain on the SDR on the fly, but, for example, SoapySDR does. For backends that support it it would be nice for there to be an API to adjust the gain, & maybe other properties like sampling rate, iq balance, dc offset, and bandwidth although I'm not sure about those being useful in practice like gain is (e.g. it's common to expose a UI knob to adjust the gain dynamically).

That's definitely a good feature, I have it in mind but didn't think much about it yet. Actually I am not sure it requires more instrumentation.

In a sync context, you just set the gain right? In an async context you probably just need a channel to pass messages to adjust any setting like frequency some rate or gain?

I am happy with contributions in general but what did you have in mind exactly?

PS: note that for jet1090 it is still best practice in 99% of situations to just be full gain
