Hey there, I've been working on making select fully IE8 compatible. I'm really close to ready to submit a PR, but I need some upstream PRs to get merged first. You can check out my branch to see what I've changed in the mean-time.

only one note is i think we should use component/query the reason is that it lets people decide if they want to support > ie8.

you can register() an engine like zest or whatever ;)

for example to support ie8 in your app all you have to do:

require('query-zest'); // ie support
require('boot'); // boot app after zest is registered

Unfortunately, zest was pretty much required for this particular app due to the complex selectors used throughout. (at least to work as-is, without changing much code)

I'll take some time to look at those couple examples and find ways to remove the need for zest. :)
