Original PR:
What are Religious Sects?
These allow for your character/posse to benefit by sacrificing certain items to appease your gods and can offer various pros/cons to make your chaplain experience a bit more unique :)
What kind of Sects are there?
The only one going to Prod in this PR is a proof of concept sect called "Technophiles". They trade batteries for favor, recharge borgs, and heal robotic limbs but hate organic ones!
At 500 favor (lots of batteries!!) they can perform a special rite which will turn the individual on the altar (newly added) into an android.
How do I use them?
To choose a sect, you will need an "Altar of The Gods", an item currently only obtainable via admin spawn. The high priest (aka the person who determined the religion) can select one PER ROUND via bible hitting the altar.
You also perform rites in the same manner after the sect has been selected.
Will this interfere with my prefs?
No, in fact I've built it with the idea it's meant to enhance them! The idea is to make sects more about how the user performs their rituals, not who/what they worship. Space Jesus can (eventually) be anything from a techno-loving God to a Blood-Thirsty demon holy warrior!
Other item(s) (probably forgot some)
Changes isholy to holy_role with unique defines.
Why It's Good For The Game
I think it would be more interesting if the Chaplain played more like a utility support role than a RP role revolving around the adminwho command. I'm hoping this will support people's experience even if an admin doesn't come to their aid or can't be around, making it a less of a validhunter that hardcounters 2 gamemodes.
Right now this is more of a concept run since I want the framework to be good before people start tacking on a bunch of sects, as there's been plenty of interest in contributing to it in the form of new sects.
Changelog
🆑 ExcessiveUseOfCobblestone for code, thegamerdk for porting
rscadd: Religious Sects are now Added! Religious sects tailor your chaplain experience and reward you for playing in a particular playstyle as a convert/priest/highpriest! (Currently Admin Only, Requires Spawning altar_of_god)
rscadd: The Technophile Sect is now added! These machine lovers refuse to heal organic limbs, but they recharge borgs and augmented ones! Sacrifice enough power in order to perform an ancient rite...
