Action Performed:

1. Go to staging.new.expensify.com
2. Go to workspace chat.
3. Create an expense with receipt.
4. Open the expense.
5. Hover over the receipt.
6. Click full screen button.
7. Close the receipt view with ESC key.
8. Hover over the receipt.

Expected Result:

Full screen button will not show blue border after closing receipt view with ESC key.

Actual Result:

Full screen button has blue border after closing receipt view with ESC key.

The causing PR is clearly identified and can be cleanly reverted. This is a new feature that does not exist in production, so reverting will not cause any user-facing regressions.

Detailed Analysis

Evidence

PR #83994 added two hover-activated icon buttons (enlarge and add attachment) overlaid on receipt images in MoneyRequestReceiptView. The bug manifests exactly in the context of these new buttons - the fullscreen/enlarge button retains focus (blue border) after the receipt modal is closed with the ESC key.

Code Changes

The PR modified src/components/ReportActionItem/MoneyRequestReceiptView.tsx and added:

• PressableWithoutFeedback components for the enlarge and add attachment buttons
• Hover state management using useHover hook
• Two new icon buttons that appear on hover (web) or are always visible (mobile)

Root Cause

When the receipt modal is closed with the ESC key, focus returns to the element that opened it - the enlarge button created by PR #83994. The PressableWithoutFeedback component does not suppress the browser default focus indicator (blue outline), causing the visual artifact described in the bug report.

This is a focus management issue where:

1. User hovers over receipt, buttons appear
2. User clicks enlarge button, modal opens
3. User presses ESC to close modal
4. Focus returns to the enlarge button
5. Button shows browser default focus outline (blue border)

Verification

• The PR modifies /home/runner/_work/App/App/src/components/ReportActionItem/MoneyRequestReceiptView.tsx
• The bug describes behavior directly related to the new enlarge button added in this file
• Timeline aligns: PR merged on 2026-03-05, issue reported on 2026-03-06
• Feature is new and does not exist in production (version 9.3.32-0 is staging-only)
