If it happens again, PYTEST_CURRENT_TEST should show where the error occured. It is only set when running tests, not collecting tests.

3.9 passed after deleting the old Travis cache (re: #4623 (comment)).

(I've also restarted 3.9 for a bunch of other PRs.)
