Are we permanently moving to dark mode? or user will be allowed to change in the future, etc. |
@parasharrajat Permanently for now. Theme switching is a goal for the future, but is not a priority until after WAQ initiative. |
This would be "permanent" for now until we create the ability for folks to switch themes, and at that point we'll re-introduce a light theme. |
Thanks, happy to move forward with minimal changes then. |
@shawnborton We might want to change the status bar text/indicators to white for the dark theme. |
@shawnborton Another thing, we should also set the themeColor (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Manifest) to configure chrome to show a native look. |
I like both of those suggestions! What do you think @grgia? |
Looks great 👍 |
I like the idea of changing chrome to match, but IMO it's not worth implementing right now since it only would work for mobile chrome on android |

Please update the colors in this file https://github.com/Expensify/App/blob/main/android/app/src/main/res/values/styles.xml as well. This file is used when the app boots up and the splash screen is shown.
It uses colors from https://github.com/Expensify/App/blob/main/android/app/src/main/res/values/colors.xml
Ok, I see we are not updating splash screens in this PR.

Out of all these #12944 (comment), I think we should fix splash screen issues in this PR only.
I'd like to see us create separate issues for these issues before we merge. Definitely think we can work on them separately though. |
@parasharrajat the splash screen and status bar issues are going to immediately be fixed with this PR, so I don't think we need to hold for them. I've been holding that PR on this one for a few days, and I have already thoroughly tested the two PRs together. |

This is a huge change, so we're not blocking on the minor remaining issues. Issues have been opened for these.

As per our process, I'm leaving a comment here to let you know that this PR caused this bug |
To close the look noting here that we have omitted the gif/ animations to be updated when we made the switch. I assume that was just considered out of scope for this PR, but we have not had a follow-up ready and this bug was logged to solve this |
