Wonder if we can scope back some of the abstractions and focus on the following core pieces and reduce some of the rest:
- Chat history data model.
- Types for processor function(s) for transforming the chat history.
- Profiles as functions.
Also wondering to what degree prompt templating should be subsumed into this architecture: #23307

Hey @joshualitt — my union-find PR (#24736) is stale against the old surface. Plan:
Does clustering belong at the processor level, or somewhere else? And are more structural changes coming after this? |

@kimjune01 , this is the bulk of the changes, and your proposed plan sounds reasonable! I envisioned we'd cluster at the processor level. The new union-find compaction algorithm should sit alongside the snapshotter, perhaps with an async pre-processing piece. After this lands, I will ping on your PR, and we can work through the best way to land your changes. |

@gundermanc , landing this so we can iterate in the context of everything wired up. I did make the config logic a bit more type safe, but this can still be improved. I also implemented an initial attempt at GC. |
