tofu 1.4.2 preparation

Motivations:

• After deploying alpha and beta versions, the code seems ready for a full release 1.4.2
• Includes many small bug fixes and additional features since the first alpha version
• Marks a milestone before moving on to solid angles (I propose we include the sampling volumes PR in the next version, as it is more relevant to solid angles and it gives more time for a detailed review)
